Before a tanker ever reaches the berth, every system on board must be inspected, tested, and confirmed ready with risks assessments and meetings. A missed check isn't just a delay — it's a safety, environmental, and operational risk. Overfill protection / High-High alarms — (typically 95–98%) independent test; confirm automatic shutdown activation
Overfill sensors / Independent Shut-Down (ISD) — operational test; linked to cargo pump shutdown and manifold valve closure
Portable gauging equipment — ullage tapes, thermometers, sampling cans — calibrated, clean, serviceable
Gauging / sampling valves — operate smoothly; caps/plugs fitted; no leaks

Oxygen analyser — calibrated with known span gas; readings stable; recorder functional
Pressure recorder / controller — accurate trace; setpoints for high/low pressure alarms confirmed
IG valves — deck isolating valve, inert gas main valves, bypass — all operate remotely and locally
System alarms — low/high pressure, high O₂ content, low water level, blower failure — all audibly and visually alert
